Data export — user manual
Overview
The data export lets you download a complete copy of your band's data from nGage as a
single ZIP file. It includes everything your band has stored across all modules
(profile, members, songs, set lists, gigs, rehearsals, contacts, newsletters,
invoices, calendar, date polls, riders, notes and messages) together with your
uploaded files (recordings, attachments, images and PDFs).
This supports your right to data portability (GDPR/AVG Art. 20) and is the recommended
first step before closing your account or deleting a band.
Only the band owner (or a platform administrator) can export band data.
First steps
- Open Band settings and go to the data export page.
- Press Start export. A short confirmation appears — confirm to begin.
- The export is built in the background. You can stay on the page (the status updates
automatically) or leave and come back later.
Features
- Background build. Large bands can hold several gigabytes of recordings, so the
archive is built by a background worker instead of blocking your browser.
- Live status. The page shows whether your export is queued, building, ready,
failed or expired, and refreshes on its own.
- Download. When the export is ready, a Download export button appears. The link
is private to you and the archive stays available for 7 days, after which it is
removed automatically. Start a new export any time.
What's in the ZIP
manifest.json — a summary of what's included (modules, versions, record counts).
data/<module>.json — your band's data per module, in nGage's own JSON format.
files/… — your uploaded files.
external_references.json — files that live on linked cloud drives (Dropbox, Google
Drive, OneDrive, WebDAV). These are listed so you know they exist, but they are
not downloaded into the archive — fetch those from the cloud drive directly.
Deleting your data afterwards
The export does not delete anything. When you're ready to remove data, use the danger
zone in band settings (to delete a band) or My account (to close your account).
Export first, delete second.
FAQ
How long does it take? Usually under a minute, but large bands with many recordings
can take a few minutes.
Why can't I see the export option? Only the band owner or an admin can export band
data.
The export failed — what now? Press Start export again. If it keeps failing,
contact support.
Can I import this back into nGage? The format is nGage-native and designed so a
future import can relink records, but importing the archive is not part of this feature.
