Metronome Module - User Manual

Introduction

The Metronome module provides a built-in metronome tool to help you practice with consistent timing. It features adjustable tempo, tap tempo functionality, and visual/audio feedback.


Getting Started

Accessing the Metronome

  1. Click "Metronome" in the main menu (under "Tools")
  2. The metronome interface will open
  3. No band selection required - available to all users

Permissions

The Metronome module requires no special permissions. All logged-in users can access it.


Using the Metronome

Setting the Tempo

You can set the tempo in three ways:

  1. BPM input – Type a number (40–300) in the tempo field
  2. Up/Down arrows – Click the chevron buttons to increase or decrease BPM
  3. Tap tempo – Click the "Tap tempo" button in rhythm; the metronome detects and sets the tempo from your taps (use at least 2 taps)

Starting and Stopping

  • Play – Click the play button to start the metronome
  • Stop – Click the stop button to pause
  • The metronome runs until you stop it

Visual Feedback

  • The tap button flashes on each beat when the metronome is playing
  • Tapping the tap button also gives a visual flash

Mute

  • Click the volume icon to mute or unmute the click sound
  • The metronome continues (with visual feedback) when muted

Practice Tips

  1. Start slow - Begin at a comfortable tempo
  2. Gradually increase - Speed up as you improve
  3. Use consistently - Practice with metronome regularly
  4. Focus on timing - Let the metronome guide your rhythm

Using Tap Tempo

  1. Play or think the rhythm you want
  2. Tap the "Tap" button in time with that rhythm
  3. The metronome will detect and set the tempo
  4. Useful for matching existing songs or recordings

  • Use the tempo from your Songs module
  • Set metronome to match song BPM
  • Practice songs with consistent timing
